Aluminum Clad Wood for a Low Maintenance Exterior
All aluminum cladding is not created equal. Our extremely durable extruded aluminum substrate is significantly stronger than roll-form aluminum. Marvin clad meets the toughest AAMA 2605-05 70% PVDF standard for a finish with superior resistance to fading and chalking.

Durability Through Chemistry
Marvin’s extruded aluminum clad products feature Fluropon® — a fluoropolymar paint finish with 70% PVDF. This advanced and extremely durable finish is standard on all Marvin clad products.
During manufacturing, a chemical bond is created between the extruded aluminum and the paint finish to resist chalking and fading. Before the finish is applied, Marvin’s aluminum cladding goes through a five-step pre-treatment process to ensure the finish adheres smoothly. And unlike roll-form aluminum, Marvin’s clad extrusions are formed first and then painted — this results in superior adhesion and a consistently thick finish so that your Marvin clad products will retain color and gloss for years to come.
Time Exposure — Chalking
Chalking is the breakdown of paint that creates a white powder to coat and dull the finish. These microscopic images illustrate the superior resistance to chalking that Fluropon® with 70% PVDF has over standard finishes. Notice the heavy pitting that occurs over time, which results in chalking.
Time Exposure — Fading
UV rays cause paint finishes to fade over time. These panels illustrate the superior resistance to fading that our Fluropon® with 70% PVDF has over standard finishes used on roll-form aluminum and vinyl.
Substantially Stronger and Built to Last
Marvin's extruded aluminum is substantially stronger than roll-form aluminum. Our cladding is so strong, it exceeds the American Architectural Manufacturers Association's toughest specification for aluminum cladding (2605-05). This specification requires both extruded aluminum and a 70% PVDF finish.
Pictured is a cut-away corner sample of a Marvin clad-wood product. The extruded aluminum exterior with 70% PVDF finish provides a durable, low-maintenance exterior with superior resistance to chalking and fading.
Marvin Clad
Marvin's extruded aluminum cladding offers strength and durability that roll-form and vinyl clad windows can’t match. The difference in strength is like comparing the thickness of an industrial chair to an inexpensive lawn chair.
Roll-Form
Roll-form aluminum isn't much thicker than a soda can. It is easily bent and damaged. Most windows using roll-form aluminum come standard with a less expensive paint coating that can easily fade, chalk and scratch.
Vinyl
Vinyl expands and contracts due to heat and cold. Couple this issue with the damaging effects of UV light, and the vinyl will eventually chalk and fade. The weather’s constant climatic attack breaks down vinyl, leaving a brittle, faded shell behind.
Casing Profiles Add Appeal
Add exterior clad casing to Marvin windows and doors to enhance your home's architectural detail. These casings provide the look of wood but offer increased durability and lower maintenance.
